"I don't mind the gap"

My perceptions is in the way. I'm stumbling over the moment.I want my work to be those moments.

The focal point of my work with the sculptures is the composition of incompatible materials. I am inspired by the contrasts and sensibilities of the meeting between the different materials. Heaviness and lightness. Soft and hard. Matt and glossy.

I'm constantly incorporating new materials, and it's in the process of not mastering and knowing the materials, that something magical can occur. The work of getting the different materials to fit together, is very visible, giving the sculptures a fragile and awkward expression. It is by making mistakes and be open for the unplanned, that the works will come alive.

The feeling or radiance of the work is the most important. I don't have a fixed idea about how the artwork will look like, I seek the expression in the process. I'm playing around with various expressions. I build and rebuild. What I do not understand with my head, but is full of life makes me happy.

The drawings also revolve around the sculpture, and various elements that are put together. I play with the contrast between the flatness and 3-dimensional shapes, that blur the eyes. The drawing process, and working with the sculptures inspire each othe.Sometimes a drawing is the starting point for a sculpture, or I'm working on a sculpture in my drawings.
