The Egg & Dart
11 March to 9 April, 2016
New South Wales. Australia.
In my work process, I try to stay as open and free as possible, to catch a glimpse of my own true beingness in its constant change and flow of life. I want to express all kinds of feelings and emotions ranging from where I feel vulnerable, weak, bored, powerless, stupid and ugly to being hopeful, alive, boosting with joy, strong, and all compassionate. Often I feel a mixture of all kinds of feelings in one moment, and I like to catch that ambivalence and contradiction. My main media are drawing, collages and sculptures. Often I work with the same “subject” as both drawing and sculpture. I like to transform the flatness of the drawings into a 3 dimensional physical form- in that way it becomes more alive and a kind of being in its own right. Materials are essential to me. I am exploring different materials such as paper, textiles, wood, yarn, foam rubber, household paint, acrylic paint and acrylic ink. I like to combine different materials that are not really fitting together, making my work kind of fragile and clumsy. Humor and playfulness are important elements in my work process, and the composition and selection of materials helps to emphasize the unpretentious, quirky and absurd.
My first exhibition in Australia, in the gallery Egg & Dart.
