"You sweet life" - a study of the obscure and neglected in modern life.
Jonna Pedersen works with figurative paintings, where as Marie J. Engelsvold is working both figurative and abstract in her sculptures, drawings and hybrids between sculpture and painting.
Marie J. Engelsvold work with the psychological aspects of the hunt for the perfect life.
"Where is the negative aspects of the “perfect life”, that which we do not talk about, which might be fragile, weak, contradictory, indefinable and ugly.? I will examine my own emotional states by writing down inner mental monologues. I work in a conscious way with many different materials such as paper, textiles, wood, yarn, foam rubber, paint, acrylic paint and acrylic ink. Through the combination of the materials, I will embody the words to evoke an emotional response in the viewer. The works are, hanging around in space.
Jonna Pedersen is working with everyday consumer products and sweets and illustrate thereby the close life. In her artistic practice, she is busy exploring everyday life and human traces that together tell a story of life and culture.
"I call my paintings for" time images ", they are a kind of cultural and archetypal images of lived life.I am fascinated by the culture footsteps of history and stories, as reflected in their packaging and products. It interests me, which senses and memories that appears in the viewer in the face of my works.
My intention is to challenge the viewer to stop and consider - what are the tracks in your own life? "
